Family Counselling

Family counselling requires a specialized type of training in family and systemic therapy. A skilled family therapist attends to the unique relational dynamic of the entire family, while paying attention to needs, circumstances and goals of each family member.

Our team sees families at various stages in the family life cycle development and works with diverse constellations of family members. Family Therapy aims to establish a healthy family balance, appropriate family hierarchy and clear family roles and boundaries. It works to repair relationships and provide an opportunity for each family member to safely develop to their full potential.

We offer a fun playful environment in which children's issues can be addressed within the family context.

Issues that may be addressed in family counselling include:

  • Blended family issues
  • Families post-separation or divorce
  • Parenting young children
  • Families with neurodivergent members
  • Parenting teens
  • Diversity in the family
  • Intergenerational conflict
  • Cultural and individual differences
  • Coping with life transitions, including loss and grief, career changes and addition of new family members
  • Helping children cope with behavioural and emotional concerns, such as anxiety, social difficulties and aggressive behaviour
  • Adjustment and adaptation issues
