Dr. Tanya Elez, Registered Psychologist (#2269)
Tanya is a compassionate, skilled, and collaborative psychologist who has been dedicated to providing excellent
mental health services to diverse individuals, couples and families for over 20 years. She has substantial training and experience in the area of mental health and couple and family
For a number of years, Tanya worked as a therapist and clinical supervisor at a well established community agency and a
university training site. In addition to her excellent track record as a clinician, Tanya has trained a number of marriage and family therapists who are now also very successful in the counselling
Tanya is a passionate teacher who has taught Master's level university courses for a
number of years. Her teaching experience includes serving as a faculty member in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at the University of Winnipeg and teaching in the Counselling Psychology
Program at the University of British Columbia.
Tanya founded the Therapy Program for Immigrant and Refugee Families at the Aurora Family Therapy Centre in Winnipeg.
This program has received national recognition and continues to provide valued mental health, psycho-educational and other services to numerous clients of immigrant and refugee backgrounds. She
continues to publish, conduct research in the field of migrant mental health, and offer related presentations and training.
Dr. Elez completed her PhD in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia and also holds a Master's
degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Winnipeg. In addition to her formal education, Tanya has received substantial clinical training as a practitioner, including extensive
training in Self-Regulation Therapy and training in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
Dr. Elez's registrations include: Registered Psychologist (#2269); Registered Marriage and Family Therapist
and Approved Supervisor (RMFT #97546).
Tanya currently lives in New Westminster, BC, with her family and two pets. She enjoys hiking, watching soccer games,
and spending time with family and friends.
